The Art Centre was established by Andy Russell and Helen Rigby.

Andy (B.Ed) is a professional painter and painted effects artist who has taught art in schools and in Adult Education. Andy has exhibited in the UK and the US and is the lead tutor at the Arts Centre.

He works in acrylics and emulsion to create strong portraits and landscapes and uses oils from time to time. Andy also offers a course in painting murals, trompe l’oeil, marbling and graining etc, of which he has extensive experience.

" I believe that everybody can paint or draw, often in spite of themselves, my task is to guide you to your own means of expression."

Helen manages the Centre; she previously worked in education management and career guidance and before this she was a caterer.

Helen initiated the catering for a Blue Chip company whilst Andy once owned his own restaurant and worked in hospitality for a Formula One race team.

Both Helen and Andy have a love of good food and this is reflected in the Mediterranean and Moroccan style food on offer at the Centre, including meat and vegetarian dishes. The daily produce market that is as old as the town supplies our locally grown and produced food.

They are both available during course hours to offer individual attention to ensure progress and help with any problems that you may encounter.
